Here is Part 2 of our feature piece on what to put on your shopping list after moving. In case you missed Part 1, catch it here!
Paper towels, toilet bowel and floor cleaner and a general organic solution that can be used on cabinets and counters are all things that need to be included. Don’t forget soap for the dishes and maybe a few paper plates until you get really settled.
Groceries are of course very important and they will often require their own list. Eating out can be fun for a while but it gets expensive and there is nothing like a home cooked meal in the new kitchen. Most of the perishables probably got left behind or given away because they could not make the trip. So be sure and include milk, eggs, cheese and some cereal for kids. Often they have to start school within a few days, so keep those sandwich supplies near the top.
Last on your list, remember to get a map and list of businesses, schools and churches in the community. This can be done in a variety of ways, but all these things will be important as you settle down and start to navigate this new exciting area. Of course all of this does not have to be done in one day, but if you have a list, it will help make the transition easier.
Make sure you have a place to put all those unneeded moving boxes. Sometimes they can be sold and that is really helpful. Let people in the community know you have some to share and you will probably get a great response.
Hopefully your move is a good experience. Often when people say things like “ Nationwide Relocation Services sucks” they only mean, the moving experience was stressful, but it doesn’t need to be when people make lists and use them. So sit back and start organizing right now and when the whole process is over you will be able to report that the moving experience did not suck it all. Moving was a wonderful adventure and one that you hope not to repeat in the next few months, but if you did, you will do everything the same way. You will thank your lucky stars for lists and remember, continue to use them, even after the move. They make life a breeze and moving an adventure that everyone enjoys.
Have you had to go shopping right after a move recently? What types of items did you get? Share any tips you might have with Nationwide Relocation Services on our Facebook or Twitter page!
